Corporation FAQs |
 |
|
How much
experience does Forecross have performing automated software conversions? |
We have over 20 years experience
automating the migration of complex application languages, user interfaces and database
platforms for Fortune 500 companies.
|
Has Forecross
always used automated solutions? |
Yes, we have always focused on
developing fully automated software solutions designed to reduce the cost, risk and time
required for you to convert your applications.
|
Do you specialize
on a particular hardware platform or do you perform work on mainframe, midrange,
client-server, and/or PC-based applications?
|
The majority of our migration projects
have been focused on IBM host environments. In addition, we have conducted two migrations
that involved moving the legacy applications from MVS hosts to Unix-based platforms.
|
Does Forecross
guarantee its work? |
Absolutely. Forecross guarantees
that your application will operate in your target environment in a manner that is
functionally equivalent to the original unmigrated version.
|
What language is
your software written in? |
We use a powerful meta-language
(CADS) that generates COBOL. Various components of our Smart/XML suite of tools are written
in Java, Visual Basic and SQL.
|
Do you perform the
work on the customers mainframe or do you download the information to your Factory? |
The work is performed at the
Forecross factory in San Francisco, California.
|
What method do you
use for transmitting components to and from your Factory? |
We work with each individual
customer to decide the communication mechanism best suited for transmitting and receiving
their components. Some options are MVS tape, UNIX tape, Internet FTP or high capacity
diskette. We also provide extraction "how-to" documentation and utilities to
supplement those in your environment that are used to extract, format and package your
source components in the format required for transmittal to our factory.
|
What security
measures are in place to ensure the confidentiality of my data at your Factory? |
First, we set up an independent
SQL Server Database and directory structure that is specific and unique to each customer.
Second, our Internet site is divided into separate customer areas and the directories are
protected by passwords at the customer level. Third, our Factory is a secured environment
with entry controlled by keypad access. Fourth, only the factory workers authorized to
work with a specific customer have the necessary password to access the customers
repository.
|
Do you have a
Quality Assurance process?
|
Yes,
our factory quality assurance department uses a combination of automated and manual
review processes to ensure the accuracy of all reports and source code changes.
